1/2/12 JC Wrestling Newsletter

 
Pat's Take 3rd at Boiling Springs
On the strength of 9 placers, JC was able to finsh 3rd at the Boiling Spring's Holiday Invitational.  The event featured several tough, Centrral PA schools.  Finishing ahead of JC was the host school and tournament champs, followed by Bedford High School.  Leading the way for the Patriots were George Weber and Scott Strappelli both of whom were returning champions.  Finishing second, were freshman, Steven Jernigan, Christian Almony and Hunter Ritter.  Fellow freshman, CJ Skokwski placed 3rd, while Zach Dwyer, Artie Milner and Rapheal Oduok took home 4th place honors.
 
Ritter Named Arena Club Athlete Of The Week
Hunter Ritter's 7-0 win over MD's #7 ranked 170lb'er from Bel Air, caught the eye of the Arena Club folks, as well as MD's wrestling community.  Hunter bumped up a weight class to take the challenge in front of 500+ at the Battle Of Bel Air, on 22nd.
 
WRESTLEPALOOZA!
This Wednesday, Jan 4th Loyola comes to JC for the annual match aimed at the student body.   This year, the challenge will be greater than usual, as a tough Loyola squad takes on the Pat's.  Loyola is ranked #14 in Maryland, while JC is ranked #7.  The varsity action starts at 3:30 followed by the JV match in the lower gym
 
JC Goes For #3 At The Iron Horse
John Carroll tries to bring home it's 3rd the Ultimate Struggle trophy awarded to the champion team at the Iron Horse Dual Meet Tournament.  The event held Jan 6/7 at C Milton Wright features teams from all over MD, including last year's 3A/4A Public School Chmapions, La Plata.  Each team wrestles 8 matches...3 friday afternoon/evening and 5 on Saturday.
