John Carroll Wrestling

WRESTLEPALOOZA
John Carroll kicked off the 2010 wrestling season by beating the visiting Gilman Greyhounds, 65-7.  The first home match at John Carroll has come to be known as Wrestlepalooza (the 8th consecutive year), due to the program's attempt at 'non-wrestling' entertainment.  This year featured an Elvis impersonator singing the National Anthem and a gorilla throwing t-shirts into the crowd of over 300 spectators.
As far as the wrestling is concerned, the Patriots earned major decisions by Devin Davis (119), Lance Waters (130) and Joe Vitucci (140).  In addition, Dan Froehlich (135), Sammy Owens (152), Mathew Miller (171), Chris Grimm (189), Kyle Miele (215) and Rob Clingerman (285) all won by pinning thier opponent.
Gilman chose to forfiet against Art Millner (103), Scott Strappelli (119) and George Weber (125).

The Mule Classic
Over the weekend, John Carroll took the show on the road to Quarryville, PA, for a tough tournament called The Mule Classic.  The Mule is in it's 12th year, and featured school's from the Lancaster, York and Philadelphia areas.  John Carroll only entered 12 wrestlers (2 starters were on a field trip), but still managed to place 4th out of a 15 team field.  The Patriots crowned champions Mathew Miller (171) Scott Strappelli (119).  Placing 3rd were Art Millner (103) and Rob Clingerman (285).  Taking forth were Devin Davis (112) and Joe Vitucci (140).
