John Carroll Wrestling News

30 Grapplers Hit The Mats
John Carroll began regular practices with 2 session this past Saturday.  In an attempt to 'peak' a little later in the year, JC started regular practices 2 weeks later than allowed.  Last year, we waited one week to get started, and had a great MIAA Tournament, placing 2nd, but we fizzled at States and Nationals.  Hopefully, the extra week along with extra days off during the Christmas break will find everyone healthy and hungry come late February.

Romanian Olympian To JC
Lau Palade, an 8x Romanian Freestyle Wrestling Champ and Olympian, will run JC's wrestling practice this Friday.  Lau brings cutting edge technique and a hardnosed approached to the sport that has served Weber, Strappelli and Miller well.

Weight Certifications Go Well
JC  wrestlers traveled to McDonogh this past Sunday to the MIAA's weight certification.  For the first time ever, everyone passed hydration the first time.  In addition, everyone was able to get certified at the weight class they had hoped for.

3 JC Wrestling Alum Win D-2 Rugby Title
Former John Carroll wrestlers, Ethan Reese, Matt Bodt and Brock Brooks helped the Salisbury State Rugby team win the Potomac Rugby Union Championship.  The PRU (as it's known) is the championship for Northern VA, Washington DC, MD and Pennsylvania.  Salisbry beat Towson University 19-13 in the finals.
