MD Wrestling Day A Success
John Carroll hosted it's 1st Maryland Wrestling Day this past Saturday. On hand were the US Marine Corp, the MD State Troopers, the US Naval Academy, McDaniel College and several wrestling product suppliers. The event was a fundraiser for JC Wrestling.
Patriots Win 2 Out Of 3 Patriot Challengfe Matches
As part of MD Wrestling Day, three JC grapplers participated in the Patriot Challenge. A showcase of local, high level, wrestling talent. For John Carroll, State Champion, Scott Strappelli (JC '13) beat State Runner Up, Shaun Murphy in a 1-0 'scramblefest'. In the 'featured' match of the afternoon, Wrestling USA magazine's #11 ranked Mathew Miller (JC '11) beat the #9 wrestler in the country, Issah Meade from Dover, DE, 3-0. Prep All American, George Weber (JC '13) lost a controversial 3-2 match to fellow prep All American, Shane Arichega.
#20 Randolph Macon Win Homecoming Game
Matt Webster (JC '08), Tim Webster (JC '07) and their Yellowjacket football team thumped Guilford College, 59-21. RM is now 6-1 and ranked #20 in the Division 3.
Von Paris Nominated Academic All American
Bucknell football has nominated senior, defensive end, John Von Paris to the Academic All American Team. Despite the team having a dismal season, Von Paris has shone brighlty. A bus load of JC wrestling/football supporters will travel to Lewisburg for this Saturday's game vs Lafayette.
Miele Marches On......Again
John Carroll's gridiron crew improved to 5-2 by slapping around Severn, 27-7. Fullback, Kyle Miele gained 188 yards to bring his total on the year up to 996. JC Head coach Stitchel has credited the Patriot's stellar offensive line play as a being a big reason for the "Miele March". Senior lineman, Rob Clingerman, is cited as having 'opened many holes for Miele'. Rob is thinking about taking his talents to Johns Hopkins next season. Next, the Patriots take on #19, Boy's Latin this Friday night at JC.
